Blue Jays send Richard Urena to triple-A, make room for Buchholz

The Tampa Bay Rays' bats had a great day at the park and they held off a Toronto Blue Jays rally to win 11-7.

The Toronto Blue Jays have optioned infielder Richard Urena to triple-A Buffalo to make room for Clay Buchholz’s start on Saturday against the Tampa Bay Rays.

Urena has eight hits in 24 at-bats through eight games for the Blue Jays this season, good for a .333 batting average and .360 on-base percentage.

Buchholz will start for the first time this season after signing a one-year, $3 million contract with Toronto in early March.

The 34-year-old right-hander needed some extra time to get ready for the season which is why he didn’t break camp with the team.

Buchholz went 7-2 with a 2.01 earned-run average in 16 starts last season with the Arizona Diamondbacks.
