The Toronto Blue Jays have signed their third-round pick (88th overall) in the 2019 MLB Draft, Canadian Dasan Brown, to an $800,000 deal, Sportsnet’s Shi Davidi confirmed Saturday.
Brown is an athletic and toolsy outfielder from Oakville, Ont. The slot value for the pick was $678,600.
The 17-year-old was the first Canadian taken by the Blue Jays in the draft since they selected James Paxton in 2009. The lefty from Ladner, B.C., didn’t sign with Toronto and ended up with the Seattle Mariners the following season.
