Blue Jays sign two players from 2014 Draft

TORONTO — The Toronto Blue Jays have signed two players from the 2014 First Year Player Draft, both from the top 10 rounds.

Fourth round pick Matt Morgan and eighth round selection Justin Shafer have both signed deals with the Toronto club, becoming the first of the Jays’ 41 picks to ink deals.

Morgan, 18, is a catcher signed out of Thorsby High School in Alabama. He was chosen 114th overall on Day 2 of the draft Friday.

Shafer, 21, is a right-handed pitcher from the University of Florida. He was picked 234th overall Friday.
