Already riddled with injuries, the Toronto Blue Jays lost Steve Pearce in the second inning against the Seattle Mariners on Sunday after he appeared to hurt himself on a head-first slide.
Pearce hit a double to the gap in right-centre and slid safely into second base, but he immediately stood up and made his way to the Blue Jays dugout and was replaced by Ezequiel Carrera.
The left-fielder has four home runs and a .247 on-base percentage through 26 games this season.
Injuries have been a major part of the Blue Jays’ story so far this year, with Josh Donaldson, J.A. Happ, Troy Tulowitzki, Francisco Liriano, Russell Martin, Dalton Pompey, Bo Schultz and Glenn Sparkman currently listed on the DL.
