The Toronto Blue Jays have made a trade — though not quite the splash many fans may have expected.

The team announced on Friday that pitcher Oliver Drake has been dealt to the Tampa Bay Rays in exchange for cash considerations.

As Sportsnet’s Ben Nicholson-Smith notes, the Blue Jays had designated the right-hander when they traded for Clayton Richard.

Drake is no stranger to being shipped around, however. In 2018, the 31-year-old played for five different MLB teams, pitching 47.2 innings while posting a 5.29 ERA and 51 strikeouts — including 1.2 innings of work with the Jays.

After acquiring Drake from the Blue Jays, the Rays reportedly proceeded to designate 27-year-old right-handed pitcher Jaime Schultz for assignment.
