Blue Jays to wear nicknames, alternate jerseys as part of ‘Players Weekend’

From Major League Baseball.

Joey Bats, anyone?

The Toronto Blue Jays will wear their nicknames on an alternate set of jerseys for MLB’s “Players Weekend”, which runs from Aug. 25-27.

Blue Jays right-fielder Jose Bautista is serving as one of many ambassadors for the event, and can be seen wearing the alternate jersey and cap here:

An almost-full and somewhat outdated Blue Jays roster of nicknames can be seen below, with some more creative than others. (We see you, “Pearce”.) Steve Pearce has confirmed that he will be “The Train”.

Josh “Bringer of Rain” Donaldson is quite well known, but what about Marco “Esradabien”?

Players will also be able to wear a variety of colourful gear and bats, which are being made special for the weekend.

The Blue Jays will be hosting the Minnesota Twins.
