The St. Louis Cardinals are set to return to the diamond on Saturday for the first time since July 29.
The Cardinals will resume play with a double-header in Chicago against the White Sox, beginning at 1:10 p.m. ET. The first game of the double-header was originally scheduled to be played on Friday. The Cardinals and White Sox will wrap up their series on Sunday with a game starting at 2:10 p.m. ET.
In addition to announcing the Cardinals’ return against the White Sox this weekend, Major League Baseball also revealed several rescheduled dates for games postponed due to St. Louis’s coronavirus outbreak.
Here’s the full breakdown of the Cardinals’ rescheduled games, which includes six double-headers.
The Cardinals’ season has been derailed by the coronavirus. Star catcher Yadier Molina and infielder Paul DeJong are among the players who have tested positive. The team reportedly had another coach test positive on Thursday, but the result was not expected to impact the Cardinals’ return to play.
St. Louis, the defending NL Central champion, has played just five games, winning two. Other teams have played as many as 20 games.
