The Cincinnati Reds have placed first baseman Joey Votto on the 10-day injured list, the team announced Sunday.

The 36-year-old was taken out of the starting lineup for Game 1 of Sunday’s doubleheader against the Detroit Tigers.

According to Bobby Nightengale of the Cincinnati Enquirer and C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic, Votto reported COVID-19-like symptoms to the team’s medical staff but has yet to produce a positive test result.

In seven games this season, the Etobicoke, Ont., native is slashing .259/.375/.481 with two home runs and five RBI.
