Manager Charlie Montoyo announced the move after Wednesday’s 13 inning loss to the Red Sox. Jimmy Cordero was optioned to triple-A Buffalo to make room for Richard.
Charlie Montoyo confirms Clayton Richard will make #BlueJays debut tomorrow – corresponding move to come.
The Blue Jays acquired Richard, 35, in a trade with the San Diego Padres in December but he has been out of the lineup while recovering from a knee injury.
Last season with the Padres, Richard had a 7-11 record with a 5.33 ERA and 108 strikeouts.
