PHOENIX — The Arizona Diamondbacks have optioned struggling reliever Addison Reed to Triple-A Reno and reinstated right-handed reliever Enrique Burgos from the 15-day disabled list.

The right-handed Reed began the season as the team’s closer but lost that job to Brad Zeigler. The Diamondbacks tinkered with Reed’s delivery, and there was some improvement for a time but he was hit hard in an appearance against the Los Angeles Angels and booed roundly by the Chase Field crowd as he left the mound. Reed is 2-2 with a 5.92 ERA.

Burgos was 0-2 with a 4.61 ERA in 13 appearances before going on the DL with right shoulder tendinitis. He has 25 strikeouts, nearly two per inning, and eight walks.

The moves were made Monday.
