DENVER — Los Angeles Dodgers centre fielder Matt Kemp has left Tuesday’s game after crashing into the wall in the bottom of the first inning.
Kemp ran into the wall trying to track down a triple by Josh Rutledge of the Colorado Rockies. He turned into the padding while running full speed and fell backward onto the warning track.
He stayed down for several minutes as team trainers checked him over. He got up, took a drink of water and initially stayed in the game. Not for long.
The next batter, Jordan Pacheco, looped a double that Kemp laid out for but didn’t catch. Wilin Rosario followed with a single to centre, and Kemp left after fielding the ball.
He was replaced by Juan Rivera, who took over in left for Shane Victorino, who moved to centre.
