NEW YORK — Former major league pitcher Kameron Loe has been suspended 50 games for a drug violation.

The commissioner’s office announced Thursday that Loe and outfielder Terrell Joyce had been penalized 50 games each under the minor league program after a second positive test for a drug of abuse. Both players are free agents.

The 33-year-old Loe is 34-43 with a 4.49 ERA in nine big league seasons. He last played in the majors with Atlanta in 2013, and also has pitched for Texas, Milwaukee, Seattle and the Chicago Cubs.

Loe went a combined 1-2 with a 7.51 ERA in 25 relief appearances in the minors last year with the Atlanta, Arizona and Kansas City organizations.

The 22-year-old Joyce hit .231 with 11 home runs and 32 RBIs last season for Houston’s Class A Tri-City affiliate.

Three players have been suspended this year under the minor league drug program.
