CINCINNATI, Ohio — The Cincinnati Reds have agreed to a US$3-million, one-year deal with catcher Ramon Hernandez, who started a team-high 85 games behind the plate last season.
The 34-year-old batted .297 with seven homers and 48 RBIs. He missed time with an inflamed left knee.
Last season, Reds catchers led the NL with 168 hits and a .296 batting average. Ryan Hanigan and Corky Miller also were part of Cincinnati’s group behind the plate.
