Indians sign free agent LHPs Tom Gorzelanny and Joe Thatcher

The Indians have signed veteran free agent left-handers Tom Gorzelanny and Joe Thatcher to minor league contracts and invited them to spring training.

Gorzelanny spent most of last season with the Detroit Tigers. He has a 49-52 career record with a 4.34 ERA in 307 games, including 121 starts. The 33-year-old has also played with Pittsburgh, the Cubs, Washington and Milwaukee. He was drafted by the Pirates in 2003.

Thatcher pitched for Houston last season, going 1-3 with a 3.18 ERA in 43 games. He has a 11-16 career record and 3.38 ERA in 405 games. The 34-year-old debuted with San Diego in 2007.
