Heading into Game 5 of the ALCS, all the talk once again surrounded Jose Bautista.
Coming off a do-or-die win in Game 4 and rookie left-hander Ryan Merritt set to start for the Cleveland Indians in Game 5, the Toronto Blue Jays slugger noted to reporters Tuesday night that he liked his team’s chances to force a Game 6.
“Not having seen him is something that could go either way,” Bautista said. “But with our experience in our lineup I’m pretty sure he’s going to be shaking in his boots more than we are. I like where we’re at.”
Well, it didn’t turn out exactly how Bautista expected — Merritt shut the Blue Jays down through 4.1 innings, allowing two singles and striking out four — and the Indians’ Twitter account couldn’t help but chime in one more time.
And after Cleveland eliminated the Blue Jays from the playoffs with a 3-0 Game 5 win on Wednesday, the players took time out of the post-game festivities to join in on the Bautista taunting.
