TORONTO — The Toronto Blue Jays named Dana Brown special assistant to the general manager and made two other moves in their baseball operations department Tuesday.
Ryan Mittleman was promoted to co-ordinator, amateur scouting while Harry Einbinder was appointed co-ordinator, professional scouting in the latest changes under new GM Alex Anthopoulos.
Brown, 42, comes over from the Washington Nationals, where he had served as the club’s scouting director since joining the franchise while it was still in Montreal back in 2002.
Brown mentored Anthopoulos while both were with the Expos and will now be the GM’s right-hand man in a variety of areas.
“Basically I’m going to assist Alex on all baseball operations and player moves, in terms of helping with the draft, helping with trades, evaluating players in the minor leagues,” Brown told the Washington Post. “I’ll probably see some players in the Latin American countries. Anything that also has to do with trades. Covering the fall league. And basically reporting to the general manager.”
