Jays recall Mastroianni, send down Rasmussen

TORONTO — Outfielder Darin Mastroianni was recalled by the Toronto Blue Jays from triple-A Buffalo on Saturday.

Toronto optioned left-handed pitcher Rob Ramussen to the minor-league Bisons to make space for the right-handed outfielder.

Mastroianni has gone 0 for 13 in eight games with the Blue Jays and Minnesota Twins this season. He’s hitting .293 this season in the minors with four home runs, 18 runs batted in and 15 stolen bases.

Ramussen has struggled coming out of the bullpen for Toronto. He has a 6.00 earned-run average with seven strikeouts over six innings pitched for the Blue Jays.
