The Toronto Blue Jays have announced the signing of 14 international free agents, including standout Venezuelans Yeltsin Gudino and Freddy Rodriguez.
Gudino is one of the top young shortstops out of Venezuela, ranked by Baseball America as the eighth best international prospect. The 16-year-old excelled at the U-15 World Championship last August in Mexico with a slash line of .458/.611/.833.
Rodriguez, also 16, is ranked as the 18th best international prospect by Baseball America.
Other signings include shortstops Jesus Ramierez and Miguel Almonte from the Dominican Republic.
