Despite recently being traded to the Oakland Athletics, Brett Lawrie is still putting smiles on the faces of Toronto Blue Jays fans.

Lawrie surprised a young Blue Jays fan after video surfaced of the six-year-old sharing her disappointment with the trade that sent the Canadian infielder to Oakland in exchange for Josh Donaldson. On Friday, Lawrie posted photos of his Boston Pizza lunch date with the fan, who he calls Amelia.

In his four seasons with the Blue Jays, Lawrie quickly became a popular figure with his energetic play and personality — traits that endeared him to the Toronto fanbase, including this six-year-old.

Amelia certainly looked happier on Friday then she did last month when the video first surfaced. In expressing her disappointment, the young fan also quashes any hopes of the Langley, B.C., native returning to Toronto one day: “That guy’s going to be too good.”
