The Seattle Mariners announced they have placed Felix Hernandez on the 10-day injured list with a right shoulder strain.
Hernandez suffered the injury in his start on Saturday against the Boston Red Sox that saw him surrender six hits and seven earned runs in 2.1 innings.
The 33-year-old has struggled for most of his 15th big-league season to date, posting a 1-4 record with a sub-par 6.52 ERA.
In corresponding moves, the Mariners recalled pitchers Dan Altavilla and Parker Markel from double- and triple-A, respectively, while also optioning outfielder Braden Bishop to triple-A Tacoma.
