Although there were winners in 1933 (Jimmie Foxx, Chuck Klein), and again in 1922 and 1925 (Rogers Hornsby), everyone still remembers the name Ty Cobb. Cobb won the award way back in 1909 while playing for the Detroit Tigers when he hit .377 and, while he only hammered nine home runs, he also batted in 107 runs.
