Pedro Martinez says Red Sox could use a bat; David Ortiz the answer?

Pedro Martinez thinks the Boston Red Sox could use an extra boost from a familiar face despite being only two games out of first place in the American League East.

The former Red Sox pitcher sent out a pair of tweets Monday night, praising slugger David Ortiz, who retired at the end of the 2016 season.

While news agencies have reported that Ortiz is “happy” with retirement, the 41-year-old did lead the AL in RBIs last season.

The fact that Martinez might know an extra little something about Ortiz is also nothing too surprising, considering he and Ortiz have won a World Series together and have both represented the Dominican Republic in the past.
