The Philadelphia Phillies will honour Roy Halladay by not issuing his No. 34 to any player on their roster next season, according to Todd Zolecki of MLB.com.
Halladay died on Nov. 7 when his plane crashed into the Gulf of Mexico. He was 40.
The right-hander pitched 12 seasons for the Toronto Blue Jays, wearing No. 32, before a trade sent him to Philadelphia.
He played just four seasons with the Phillies but made a giant impact in the organization, pitching a perfect game, a post-season no-hitter, and capturing a Cy Young award.
Philadelphia catcher Andrew Knapp wore Halladay’s number in 2017, but recently switched to No. 15.
