The Texas Rangers have claimed right-handed pitcher Deck McGuire off waivers from the Toronto Blue Jays.

McGuire, who will turn 29 next week, has been up and down between the Blue Jays and triple-A Buffalo all season. In 8.1 innings pitched out of the bullpen with the Blue Jays this season, he has a 6.48 ERA with seven strikeouts.

McGuire was originally a first-round pick by the Blue Jays in 2010.
