Most sports fans love a good throwback jersey, but what about a “fauxback”?

The Tampa Bay Rays have only been around since 1998, so when it comes time to re-live the good ol’ days, the Rays don jerseys they would’ve worn if the team was around in 1979. Hence the term “fauxbacks.”

Tampa threw on those jerseys — which they’ve worn before — Saturday against the Boston Red Sox.

The Red Sox answered back with a uniform the historic team wore in 1975:

The Rays and Red Sox weren’t the only team taking it back to the old school Saturday. Oakland was wearing 1965 Kansas City Athletics jerseys in their game against the Royals.
