A Boston Red Sox fan died when he was electrocuted by overhead wires while trying to climb on top of a train Wednesday night, following the team’s game at Yankee Stadium in New York.

Michael Vigeant, 24, of Hudson, N.H., lost his life, according to the New York Post.

Vigeant and his brother were on the Metro-North train from Yankee Stadium to New Haven, Conn. It departed the ballpark just before 11 p.m. ET and about half an hour later, the brothers tried to climb onto the roof.

One brother was removed safely by train personnel, but the other made contact with catenary wires and was electrocuted, according to the New York Post. The incident knocked out power to the train, stranding passengers on board for two hours.

The Red Sox were defeated by the Yankees 10-1 that night, the second of a three-game series in New York.
