During his 12 seasons with the Toronto Blue Jays, Roy Halladay cemented himself as one of the greatest players in franchise history. Nicknamed “Doc” by Blue Jays play-by-play announcer Tom Cheek, he was not only amazing on the field, but well-respected off it, too.
He also shined as a member of the Philadelphia Phillies, pitching a perfect game and a playoff no-hitter in 2010.
Retiring in 2013, he finished his career as an eight-time All-Star and two-time Cy Young Award winner, going 203-105 with a 3.38 ERA. He tragically died in a plane crash in 2017 at the age of 40. He was posthumously elected into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2019.
