Report: Blue Jays’ Donaldson to remain sidelined for 2-4 weeks

Josh Donaldson talks with the media about his calf injury and explains why he doesn't want to put a timeline on it.

Josh Donaldson’s right calf injury will likely sideline him for two to four weeks, reports Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports.

The Toronto Blue Jays third baseman was placed on the 10-day disabled list on Friday after aggravating the injury the previous night in a game against the Baltimore Orioles. He dealt with a right calf injury during spring training that forced him to miss time.

“It’s very aggravating, very frustrating,” Donaldson said on Friday. “At the same time, you’ve got to try to stay as positive as possible and look to get back in the right time and make sure that everything is going to be good.”

The loss of Donaldson is a major blow to the struggling Blue Jays, who sit at 2-10 and will host the division-rival Boston Red Sox on Tuesday in the opener of a three-game set. The 31-year-old holds a 1.015 OPS in nine games this season.
