Star free agent outfielder Bryce Harper rejected an offer of $300 million over 10 years to remain with the Washington Nationals, the Washington Post’s Chelsea Janes is reporting.

In a story published Tuesday, Janes reported the Nationals offered Harper a long-term extension to remain with the club that drafted him No. 1 overall in 2010, a deal Harper did not take.

On Wednesday morning, Janes revealed the contract to be a 10-year, $300-million offer.

At only 26 years old, Harper is a six-time all-star and was the 2015 NL MVP. He’s among the biggest names in free agency this winter and, by the looks of things, is looking for a deal that will exceed an annual average of $30 million per year.

As Janes notes, the St. Louis Cardinals, Los Angeles Dodgers and Philadelphia Phillies could be among the clubs that could afford the hefty price tag Harper and agent Scott Boras are pursuing.
