Report: Encarnacion to be ready for opening day

Ross Atkins spoke about negotiations with Edwin Encarnacion, saying the Blue Jays are hopeful everyone can feel good about proceedings.

Edwin Encarnacion appears ready to go for the Toronto Blue Jays on opening day, according to multiple reports from Florida.

After playing in a minor-league spring training game on Thursday, Encarnacion told reporters including John Lott that he is ready to play on Sunday when the Blue Jays open the season in Tampa Bay.

The Blue Jays DH has missed most of spring training with an oblique injury. The 33-year old had 39 home runs and 146 hits for the Blue Jays last season.
