J.P. Ricciardi didn’t stay unemployed for very long.

Ricciardi, the former general manager of the Toronto Blue Jays and most recently the special assistant with the New York Mets for eight years, has joined the San Francisco Giants as a senior advisor, Yahoo! Sports’ Jeff Passan reports.

Ricciardi joins new Giants president Farhan Zaidi, who just recently accepted a role as San Francisco’s president after four years as general manager of the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The 59-year-old Ricciardi was at the helm as GM of the Blue Jays from Nov. 2001 to Oct. 2009. He joined the Mets after a brief stint as a television broadcaster, and mutually parted ways with New York in early November of this year.
