San Francisco Giants outfielder Andrew McCutchen has reportedly been placed on revocable waivers.

Teams will often place players on revocable waivers ahead of the Aug. 31 trade deadline to see what could be brought back in a potential deal, with Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic saying there is a “very good chance” McCutchen gets dealt.

Opposing clubs can put in a claim for McCutchen, at which point the Giants have two days to work out a trade.

Should McCutchen go unclaimed, the Giants would be free to negotiate a deal with any team.

The 31-year-old is slashing just .257/.354/.417 this season, but is a five-time all-star who won the NL MVP Award in 2013 with Pittsburgh.

He’s in the final year of a deal that pays him $14.75 million annually.
