The Cleveland Indians are willing to listen to trade offers for some of their veteran players this off-season, ESPN’s Buster Olney reports.
Perennial Cy Young candidate Corey Kluber is the biggest name on Olney’s list, with pitcher Carlos Carrasco, slugger Edwin Encarnacion and catcher Yan Gomes among other players listed. Olney reports the Indians will definitely hold onto superstar infielders Francisco Lindor and Jose Ramirez.
Cleveland coasted to the American League Central title in 2018 with a 91-71 record. Despite a strong core and an open window of contention, the Indians are facing “market constraints” this winter.
Kluber will earn $17 million in 2019, and the Indians have club options on his deal for the 2020 and 2021 campaigns as well. Carrasco is also under club control through 2021.
Encarnacion is slated to make $20 million in 2019 with the Indians holding a team option for 2020 at the same price or a $5 million buyout.
