The Toronto Blue Jays have spoken with the San Diego Padres about third baseman Chase Headley, according to Jon Morosi and Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports.
Headley had a career year in 2012 when he led the National League in RBIs en route to winning a Silver Slugger Award and a Gold Glove. He has since cooled off, however, and hit .250/.347/.400 in 2013. This season, he was hitting .226/.296/.350 through 74 games.
The Blue Jays could use all the help they can get at third base, especially with Brett Lawrie still on the disabled list.
