Former Minnesota Twins all-star Justin Morneau appears to be returning to the team that drafted him in 1999.
The Westminster, B.C., native has taken a special assistant role with the Twins, according to the Canadian Baseball Network’s Bob Elliott.
Morneau, 36, hasn’t officially retired, but this would indicate he’s ready to move onto the next phase of his career.
An American League MVP in 2006, Morneau played 14 big-league seasons with four MLB clubs. He boasts a career batting line of .281/.348/.481 with 247 home runs and 985 RBI over 6,392 plate appearances.
Morneau last played in 2016 as a member of the Chicago White Sox.
