The Baltimore Orioles have agreed to a four-year deal with right-hander Alex Cobb that’s worth close to $60 million, according to Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports.
Cobb, 30, posted a 3.66 ERA and 4.16 FIP over 179.1 innings last season. He has spent his entire six-year career with the Tampa Bay Rays.
It has been a difficult off-season for free agents, however the right-hander’s deal stands up well, especially considering comparable starter Lance Lynn was only able to secure a one-year contract from the Minnesota Twins.
Cobb comes with durability and injury concerns; he missed the entire 2015 season following Tommy John surgery and has seen a large dip in his strikeout figures upon returning.
