The San Diego Padres have reportedly agreed to a deal with free-agent second baseman Ian Kinsler, according to The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal.
The deal, which is pending a physical, is reportedly set to pay the 36-year-old $8 million, and includes a club option for the team.
Kinsler slashed .240/.301/.380 and stole 16 bases in 128 games split between the Los Angeles Angels and the eventual World Series champion Boston Red Sox last season, en route to his first career title.
The veteran will bring some much-needed reassurance to a rather inexperienced Padres middle infield.
