Report: Phillies nearing deal to acquire Jay Bruce from Mariners

The Philadelphia Phillies are nearing a deal to acquire outfielder Jay Bruce from the Seattle Mariners according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.

Rosenthal adds that once the deal is made official, the Mariners will send cash to the Phillies and also receive a minor-league player from Philadelphia.

In 47 games with the Mariners this season, Bruce has hit for a .212 average with 14 home runs and 28 RBIs.
