The Minnesota Twins are reportedly expected to sign relief pitcher Cody Allen to a minor-league contract, according to MLB Network’s Jon Heyman.

Financial terms of the deal have not yet been disclosed.

Allen, 30, was designated for assignment by the Los Angeles Angels on June 15 after struggling with a 6.26 ERA in 25 appearances with the ball club.

The right-hander was in the midst of a one-year, $8.5-million contract with the Angels that he signed this past off-season.

Allen has proven himself as a reliable presence at the back-end of bullpens throughout his major-league career, earning a 3.14 ERA and 153 saves in 481 career appearances.

So far this season, the American League Central-leading Twins have gone with a closer-by-committee approach, typically turning to the likes of Taylor Rogers and Blake Parker in save situations.
