Relief pitcher Darren O’Day has agreed to a four-year, $31 million contract with the Baltimore Orioles, according to multiple reports.
The right-hander earned a spot on the American League all-star team in 2015, posting a 6-2 record and 1.52 ERA in 68 appearances. He figures to resume his late-inning duties behind closer Zach Britton.
One of the top bullpen arms on the market, the Washington Nationals were believed to be in the running for O’Day’s services but may have been wary of adding a fourth year to a deal.
