DENVER — Colorado Rockies centre-fielder Dexter Fowler was carted off the field after crashing into the wall in the ninth inning Sunday.

Fowler departed with bruised ribs and a bruised left hip. He will have a follow-up MRI Monday with team doctor Thomas Noonan.

Fowler made a running catch of Alfonso Soriano’s sacrifice fly in the Rockies’ 8-7 win over the Chicago Cubs.

Fowler lay on the warning track after hitting the wall. Carlos Gonzalez moved to centre and Ryan Spilborghs came in to play left after Fowler departed.
