PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. — Free agent reliever Sergio Romo has finalized a $2.5 million, one-year contract to remain with the Tampa Bay Rays.

The deal announced Tuesday includes a $250,000 assignment bonus if the right-hander is traded.

Romo was 3-1 with 3.56 ERA in 55 games with the Rays and the Los Angeles Dodgers last season, including 2-0 with a 1.47 ERA in 25 games after being acquired by Tampa last July.

Romo, who turns 35 on March 4, spent the first nine seasons of his big league career with San Francisco. He has 84 saves, all with the Giants.
