Royals’ Danny Duffy tweets support to Marcus Stroman

Marcus Stroman talks with the media after the Blue Jays beat the White Sox 8-4 and goes over his heated exchange with Tim Anderson.

Count Danny Duffy among those on Team Marcus.

The Kansas City Royals starter tweeted out his support of Stroman late Tuesday night, after benches cleared during the Blue Jays’ 8-4 win over the White Sox.

Stroman, as he’s done throughout this season, was mixing up his delivery in order to throw off opposing batters. The strategy was not well received by Chicago’s Tim Anderson, who struck out to lead off the seventh inning.

Anderson and Stroman got into a shouting match before the benches emptied, though no ejections were given.

As divisive as Stroman can be, the diminutive starter does seem to have some backing among his opponents.

Evan Longoria of the Tampa Bay Rays listed Stroman as one of the toughest five pitchers in the AL East back in June, while Longoria’s teammate Steven Souza Jr. expressed his dismay over Stroman’s exclusion from July’s all-star game.
