This story has the potential to make you really sad.
Then really happy.
Yankee Stadium was jumping on Wednesday night as the New York Yankees hosted the Oakland Athletics in the American League Wild Card Game.
The home side cruised to a 7-2 victory and as the final out was recorded in the ninth inning, one fan celebrated in a despicable, cowardly manner:

Throwing beer at an A’s fan after their season just ended??? This is why everyone hates the Yankees. #ScrewYouYankees https://t.co/VfmfLxHDHN
If you can’t quite tell from the video in that tweet, a Yankees fan, sitting among a sea of other Bronx Bombers supporters, dumped beer on a man wearing an A’s jersey. As if that wasn’t bad enough, the culprit then tossed a plastic beer cup at the head of the victim.
As the A’s fan turned around to see who had thrown the beverage at him, a heart-breaking image was captured on screen.
Luckily, his home team is doing something about it.
The A’s posted the following on Twitter Thursday afternoon, seeking help to find the man.

Do you know this A’s fan? We’d like to find him, hook him up with some new Oakland A’s gear that doesn’t smell like beer. Much love from Hero-Town, buddy. (H/T to @Jared_Carrabis)
This has the makings of happy a ending. Stay tuned to see if the A’s can locate their brave fan.
UPDATE:
The A’s found their man a few hours later and it looks like he’ll be taken care of.
