Andrew Case was nearly overlooked.
The Saint John, N.B., native went undrafted, and unnoticed by colleges after graduating from secondary school in Alberta. An invitation to the inaugural Tournament 12 – a showcase for Canada’s young baseball prospects – changed everything.
Case threw a no-hitter in the tournament, and was signed by the Toronto Blue Jays six days later.
“Those are the most special moments as a scout,” says Blue Jays scout Jamie Lehman, who offered Case his first professional contract. “When you’re calling with a contract, you’re making his dream come true in that moment.”
Get to know more about Case’s story and hear from the 25-year-old himself in the latest edition of In The System.
