Ryan Borucki credits his father with helping him find success as a baseball player, so it’s fitting that on Father’s Day he is the latest Blue Jays’ prospect to be profiled on In The System.
Ryan’s dad Ray Borucki was an infield prospect with the Philadelphia Phillies in the 80s but never made it to the majors. So if Ryan, a left-handed pitcher with triple-A Buffalo, gets a call up to the Blue Jays, it would complete a journey his father began almost 40 years ago.
“I think it would probably be more emotional for my dad than it will be for me,” Ryan said when asked about what a promotion to the big leagues would mean to him. “He’s been behind me the whole way. The way I go about my business is because of him, how he brought me up.
“I know for him it will be a very special day.”
