Jays promote top prospect Sanchez to triple-A

Blue Jays manager John Gibbons joined Baseball Central to talk about the upcoming series in Baltimore, the struggling Jays bats, and pitching prospect Aaron Sanchez potentially coming up to pitch out of the bullpen.

Heralded Toronto Blue Jays pitching prospect Aaron Sanchez is a step away from the big-leagues after his promotion to the triple-A Buffalo Bisons, multiple sources told Sportsnet.

The 21-year-old right-hander is 3-2 with a 3.82 ERA in 14 starts with the double-A New Hampshire Fisher Cats.

But he’d been stronger in his last two starts, including an outing Sunday versus Erie in which he struck out seven in six innings and was described as “electric.”

The promotion should give Sanchez a boost, as he faces more experienced and professional hitters in a more competitive environment.
