At long last, starting pitcher Brendan Morrow is coming back to the Toronto Blue Jays.
Blue Jays manager John Farrell announced Friday that outfielder Anthony Gose and shortstop Adeiny Hechavarria were optioned to triple-A Las Vegas after the team’s 6-4 loss to the Baltimore Orioles.
The move was made in order to make room for Morrow and shortstop Yunel Escobar to rejoin the team.
Morrow (7-4, 3.01 ERA) has been out since June with an oblique strain suffered against the Washington Nationals.
Escobar has been on the paternity list in order to travel to Miami so that he could be with his fiancée for the birth of their child.
Gose batted just .183 in 28 games this season but has shown impressive speed in the field and on the basepaths, where he has stolen 10 bases.
In 14 games with the big club Hechavarria struggled at the plate, batting .179 with two runs batted in and 16 strikeouts.
