Seattle Mariners pitcher James Paxton made baseball history Tuesday night against the Toronto Blue Jays, becoming just the second Canadian to throw a no-hitter.
The fact that the left-hander accomplished the feat on home soil makes it all the more special.
Not surprisingly, the baseball community — and Canada as a whole — embraced the man known as “Big Maple,” taking to Twitter to congratulate the 29-year-old hurler from Ladner, B.C.
BREAKING: Ladner, BC’s James Paxton has no hit the #BlueJays!
The Junior National Team alum (2006) is the first Canadian to toss a no hitter in #MLB since Dick Fowler on September 9, 1945!
Congrats, James! @James_Paxton #TeamC#Mariners
