The Toronto Blue Jays will be sending right-hander Tyler Clippard to the mound as Thursday’s starter against the Seattle Mariners.

Toronto hadn’t yet named a starter and are now turning to Clippard, who has made 53 appearances for the club this season but all in relief.

In total, Clippard has only ever made eight starts in his big-league career, and the last time he started a game was a decade ago on June 14, 2008 while a member of the Washington Nationals.

Opposite Clippard on the mound for Seattle will be former Cy Young winner Felix Hernandez.

First pitch is scheduled for 10:10 p.m. ET.
